My internship is with a local State Farm agent. So far, my work has been to make cold calls and talk to potential clients and try to win them over from other insurance companies . I will also be entering clients full information into a database and calling to check on clients every 6 months. I got this internship through my brother who is a State Farm agent in Kansas. Through his connections he found this local agent for me to work with. So far I really enjoy what I’m doing.

At the moment I do not have internship. I've already applied to several places and I'm going to follow up within the next 24 hours to secure the position. But I did work in the summer at a daycare, feeding, helping, and attending to the needs of children daily.

Good idea to follow up with the places that you've applied to and that you're waiting on more than one business for an internship since it will increase your chances of getting a position. Hope you get the internship!

My internship (job) is with Rife Construction as assistant to the office manager. The biggest part of my job other filing and auditing documents, paying invoices in the accounting system, and running bids down to the city, is taking care of Lead and Renovate Right Program (RRP) paperwork. This is when we sign on jobs that need lead work done, which I’m then required by law to organize a booklet with all Lead and RRP documentations to be available to inspectors on that job site. I got this position through my dad who is CEO of the business and was looking for an assistant to the office manager the more work the company took on. So far I enjoy this job because it gives me understanding on how a business and office space operates.

That is neat that you will be getting hands on experience in a business office. I think the Lead and Renovate Right Program sound interesting. You must have a pretty good understanding of the legal side of this. I did not even though the Lead and Renovate Right Program existed.

I am currently working at a daycare where I work with infants and toddlers. While working in the infant room I feed, change and rock the babies. We must always stay on a strict schedule to make sure the babies stay happy, healthy and safe. While working with the toddlers I must always stay on my toes. The children are a lot faster then the infants and have a higher chance of hurting themselves. While both of these are a lot of work I really enjoy working with the kids and watch them grow.

Props to you for working with kids because toddlers can be stressful to work with. I also think it’s a great opportunity to develop leaderships skills because you need a lot of patience for that and patience is really good skill to have.

I’m doing a management internship at Paramount Parking. I’ll basically be parking cars and learning how to manage people doing activities because I’m interested in coaching. I start Sunday and I think it will be fun because my dad said that you make a lot of money while valet parking. I think this internship will be a breeze if I just ask questions when I need to and get some help.

The internship I got was at Columbian Elementary. I work with the councilor there and also work with kids that need help in different classes. I have worked in the kindergarten rooms, in a 2nd grade room and in a 1st grade room. I help them with math, spelling, and reading. I also help the office in some cases if needed. I am also going to be helping with the councilors lesson plans and learn how to come up with some of the lesson plans they go through with the kids. I got my internship by contacting the guidance councilor that I am working with now. It took a little bit to get a response back from her, but she did respond back and now I am working at Columbian. My thoughts were to find a place near school that I can walk to easily and help people. I looked at the area around burke to see if there were any close schools. That is how I found Columbian

For my internship/job I worked at the Jewish Community Center(JCC) over the summer as a lifeguard and am still working there now. At my job, I got the chance to teach swim lessons, monitor pool maintenance and prevent accidents. While at this job, I also got to meet so many people and got the experience of working at a private pool which was much different from working at a city pool. Overall, I learned a lot about hard work and communicating with others. One of the things I struggled with was my shyness and being a lifeguard really helped me take charge in certain situations and also taught me how to stay in control and not to panic.
